Why I founded this house
One rainy night, I was homeless.
I had found shelter in a dumpster with a lid. A man came near, looking for somewhere out of the rain. I opened the lid and invited him in. We slept there beside each other.
During the night, he died by suicide beside me. I later learned he was a decorated combat veteran of Vietnam. He had returned home to shame — called a “baby killer” — and lived with terrible combat trauma.
I cannot forget him. I founded Veritas Equitatae for veterans like him: people who deserve to be seen, fed a beautiful meal, helped toward a place of peace, and met with the dignity they were owed all along.
He is why Warborn Blades has a purpose beyond selling steel. We remember him, and we will not turn away from the living.
