Why manual checking fails

Most violations are short. A weekend promotion, an overnight repricing race, a four-day clearance. A person checking three marketplaces on a Tuesday morning sees the quiet hours and concludes the policy is holding.

Most violations are also automated. A repricing bot reacting to another repricing bot will breach your floor at three in the morning and return above it before anyone wakes. There is no human decision to appeal to and no pattern a quarterly check will catch.

And most catalogues are wider than the accounts you know. The independent storefronts running your feed through a distributor are exactly the ones nobody is watching.

The four requirements of real coverage

Surface. Every place your product is advertised, not only your named accounts: marketplaces, comparison engines, social shops, and the long tail of independent sites.

Frequency. Daily at minimum; several times daily on your top lines. The measure of a monitoring programme is what it catches between checks, and that number is unknown until frequency rises.

Reading what monitoring returns

Separate the bot from the decision. A breach that lasts hours and self-corrects is a pricing algorithm; a breach that holds for weeks is a choice. They deserve different letters.

Watch duration and repetition rather than depth. A house a dollar under every week is a worse partner than one that made a single deep error and cured it in a day.

Track cure time as your headline number. Enforcement is not measured by violations found; it is measured by how quickly the shelf returns to the floor.

And publish the tally once a year to the channel. Resellers who obey deserve to see that others were made to.
